Oh boy. Somebody needs to remind him of the "inalienable rights" stuff and that reference to a "Creator"...

Hmm. I dunno...
I'm not greatly inclined to give the gaffe-prone messiah the benefit of the doubt, but he has a point. One of the founding principles is freedom of religion, and the Declaration does just say "Creator", not who (or what) that Creator might be.
It's a fine point, I grant you, and certainly the US has been profoundly Christian - probably more Christian than the founding fathers intended - throughout its history, but I'm not entirely convinced that it's a "Christian Nation", per se., in the sense that the United Kingdom (cross flags, established churches, morning prayers in Parliament, Coronation services) is, for example.
